Why should I do a teaching internship?
If you're considering changing career to teaching, the more school experience you can get, the better.
This three-week internship will build your confidence and give you an early insight into what it is like to be someone’s teacher.
You will gain experience of what it is like to teach and pupils will benefit from your experiences outside of the classroom.
If you are based in England, hold a degree and want to teach one of the subjects listed below – you can apply for an internship:
If you are not going to teach these subjects, you can still get experience in the classroom by tutoring.
The teaching internships are typically three weeks long and you are paid £300 per week.
The teaching internships are organised by region (see below). We recommend speaking to our Career Change Specialists before applying or talking to the regional teaching internship teams.
I can't commit three weeks but still want to gain experience. What can I do?
You can still tutor with Action Tutoring, The Access Project, or via another tutoring programme associated with the National Tutoring Programme.
