Project Overview
Since 2017, Now Teach has existed to attract and support experienced people to change career into secondary school teaching, and bring their skills and experience to benefit students, schools and the sector. Earlier this year:
- Now Teach conducted a strategy process with our Board and identified a 3–5-year strategy with clear ambition statements and an underpinning framework.
- We developed a two-year business plan that supports this strategy and runs from Sept 24-Sept 26.
- Earlier this year we commissioned two strands of work:
- Programme Design Sprint, with a recommendation we build in a programmatic courses and resources offer to complement our 1:1 and peer Network support.
- Impact Report, a comprehensive evaluation of the added value Now Teachers can bring, and the routes to achieve this for the sector.
Now Teach is at a pivotal time in its strategic journey as we develop our future two-year Programme and Network offer for Now Teachers. Our role is unique, we are not a training provider, and our focus is on the added value career changers can bring. To help us achieve our strategic ambition, we aim to develop and deliver high quality courses and resources to support Now Teachers to make a successful career change and retain in teaching.
We want to ensure that Now Teach is mission critical to growing numbers of career changer teachers. Our ambition is that our resources are market leading and able to meet the needs of Career Changers outside of our core programme.
Scope of work
- Review our existing recorded sessions, and written content, ensuring they are fit for purpose and provide recommendations for improvement around delivery of our online sessions.
- Ensure our materials support Now Teachers to thrive, including metrics of success.
- Develop a diagnostic tool that helps Now Teachers select from the available courses and resources by need.
- Use learning design and best pedagogical practices and methods to lead the development of purposeful and engaging courses and resources that build on current resources and meet the needs of our diverse cohort. The design and approach will need to consider the starting points and competing priorities that Now Teachers face respectful of their time.
- Collaborate with teams to define learning context, audience and learning goals and facilitate learning design workshops to shape and evaluate content.
- Deliver pilot content and provide a framework and approach for the delivery of the remaining content outlined in the Courses and Resources document.
- Create and map learner journeys.
- Take a data-driven approach (both qualitative and quantitative) to identify opportunities and pain points in trainee teacher learning experiences to inform improvements.
- Work directly with team, partner and subject matter experts to translate their knowledge and lead on the design of engaging and purposeful learning experiences for Now Teachers.
- Develop the capabilities of others at Now Teach, through a range of activities e.g., creative templates, team training, best practice guides, to develop high quality and pedagogically sound learning resources for blended delivery.
- Work with our Comms Exec to support the development of a consistent tone of voice in our learning content.
- Work with our Data and Insight Manger to create processes to support continuous improvement and evaluation of our content and offer.
- Contribute to future strategic options by being able to develop potential content packages for Career Change teachers outside of Now Teach and related to funding opportunities.
