I’d spent so long writing columns that I was no longer getting any better at it and was possibly getting worse. Many of my contemporaries were restive in their assorted jobs too and some, like me, longed to start all over again doing something new, difficult and worthwhile.

Lucy Kellaway OBE

After more than 30 years as a journalist I decided to become a teacher. Finding the path to the profession somewhat tricky for someone of my age, I co-founded Now Teach with Katie.

Since graduating from Oxford with a degree in PPE, I have been a journalist, worked for JP Morgan and been a non-executive director of Admiral Insurance.

I leave the running of Now Teach to  the team and focus much of my time on teaching economics and business studies at Mulberry Academy.

I am passionate about Now Teach because I have seen the huge impact that different experiences can bring to children’s learning and to schools.  It is a fantastic concept.

Graeme DAnton

Graeme has been Chair of Now Teach since 2017.  He was previously Chief Operating Officer at Teach First and prior to that worked at the Bank of England on risk management and policy.

Graeme is currently Executive Director of Corporate Services at Samaritans.

Lucy Heller

Lucy Heller joined ARK in 2004 and was appointed CEO in 2012. She oversees the running of 18 academies in disadvantaged communities throughout the UK. She is responsible for a model of education which is driving current government education policy.

Prior to working with Ark Lucy, worked in the academic and trade publishing industries for many years. She was General Manager of the Observer from 1998-1999 and Managing Director of TSL Education, owned by News International from 2000-2003.

I have spent most of my career recruiting graduates to become teachers and noticed early on that “stage of ones career” made no difference to your ability to become an impactful teacher and leader, so I am privileged now to be serving as a Trustee on the Now Teach Board and shouting that message to a nation!

James Darley

James has been working in Graduate Recruitment for over 23 years and in late 2018 spotted an opportunity to build on nearly 15 years’ experience with Teach First to help address the wider public service leadership challenge the UK by setting up ‘Transform Society’ an alliance of the five programmes recruiting top graduates into the most needed roles in society (Teach First, Frontline, Police Now, Think Ahead and Unlocked).

It’s a privilege to support so many extraordinary people enter teaching in the footprints of Lucy Kellaway

Charlotte Hogg

Charlotte has 28 years of experience in financial services, bank operations & management consulting.

Prior to this Charlotte was COO at the Bank of England, Managing Director of Experian’s UK & Irish Operations, CEO of Goldfish Bank at Discover Financial Services as well as earlier in her career, Managing Director for Strategy & Planning at Morgan Stanley.

Now Teach is helping to bring new and diverse talent to teaching. So inspiring to be a part of this.

Margaret Johnson OBE

Margaret is the Group Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Leagas Delaney, an independent global creative communications agency. She recently launched and is Chair of CreateTOTALLY – a next generation collaboration and adaptation platform for the marketing and communications industry.

Margaret was Non Exec of the Admiral Group until 2016 and then joined Confused.com as Non Exec stepping down in 2021 when the business was sold.

I am so impressed by the incredible impact Now Teach has made in such a short space of time to encourage many 100s of talented career changers into the teaching profession. My "day job" is focused on helping to solve some of the problems of an ageing population, I love that Now Teach is looking to make the most of its benefits!

Victoria Tillbrook

Victoria is a chartered accountant and a partner in PwC’s Deals practice.

In her day job, Victoria advises UK pensions funds and corporates on how best to fund pension obligations.

Victoria has been a member of the Now Teach board since 2017.

It’s a privilege to support Now Teach in doing what has been my career-long passion: bringing people with rich experience into the teaching profession, and then properly nurturing and valuing their expertise.

Christine Counsell taught in state schools before becoming a local authority adviser for primary and secondary history in Gloucestershire, a deputy headteacher in a Bristol comprehensive and then a teacher-trainer in one of the first school-led ITT programmes.

Christine then joined the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education where she led the secondary history PGCE and the training of ITT mentors. In 2016 Christine became a Director of Education of a MAT where she founded a new SCITT serving East Anglia and chose to partner with Now Teach.

I am committed to the importance of having the finest teachers across our education sector in the UK, and Now Teach does everything it can to bolster that bedrock of fine teachers with a diverse range of experienced, enthusiastic people who have had the courage to change careers, and start afresh in teaching.

Sonya Branch

Sonya Branch joined the Bank of England as its General Counsel in May 2015, and is responsible for providing legal advice to both the Bank and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Sonya was previously Executive Director of Enforcement and a Board member at the Competition and Markets Authority, and before that the youngest partner in the firm’s history at international law firm, Clifford Chance.

Sonya is also a Trustee and member of the board of the national charity, Target Ovarian Cancer.

I believe passionately in the importance and power of great teaching to help address inequalities across our society. Now Teach finds and supports great teachers and is an inspiring force for good.
