Now Teach co-founder, Lucy Kellaway, spoke to The Guardian about the pressing need to increase male representation in teaching and early years childcare.

At Now Teach, we're proud to be at the forefront of this initiative.

We are a charity dedicated to supporting career changers into teaching and have a network of teachers where 51% are men, significantly surpassing the national average of 35%.

Over half our hires in September 2024 were men. Nationally, women made up 68% of new trainees.

With restored government funding for our dedicated Career Change Programme, Now Teach could further bridge this classroom gender gap and potentially hire nearly 1,000 male teachers by the end of this parliament.
