Speaking to the Daily Mail about his transition, Peter said: "The first thing that hit me was the noise. So much so I found myself lying down in a dark room after school for 30 minutes every day."
Moving from investment management to the classroom was a dramatic change, but one Peter embraced. "In a short period of time, I went from being very experienced to a novice. But I was excited, and the long hours reminded me of the start of my career in finance."
Peter was motivated by the national shortage of maths teachers and the opportunity to improve financial literacy. Drawing on his professional experience, he brings real-world examples into lessons and is now developing a financial literacy course at his school.
His previous career also helps beyond the curriculum. Students regularly seek his advice on university choices and careers, while his experience conducting recruitment interviews has helped him prepare sixth formers for Oxbridge interviews.
Now Teach played an important role in Peter's journey.
